| Biography: Gwen Summers is an American porn star, active in the adult film idustry from 1997 to 2004.
An entirely natural beauty, pale skinned, auburn haired and small breasted (albeit with large nipples), without tattoos or body piercings, she hardly fits the typical porn star profile. What she does have, however, is a singular sexual allure so electric as to almost cause the screen to crackle audibly. She has also, when given the opportunity, shown herself to be a capable and versitile actress, well above the industry’s usual cut, able to convincingly play everything from girl-next-door naïfs to carnally adventurous yuppies to libidinously frustrated housewives to depraved sexual predator. She’s even been known to generate viewer heat without so much as removing a stich of clothing, as evidenced by her cameo in Vivid ’s “Rapunzel”, in which she incarns what must surely be the sexiest Mother Goose on record.
In a rare interview, given in August 2001 she offered the following, somewhat improbable, explanation as to how she came to be in porn in the first place: wed at nineteen to her college sweetheart, she discovered a month into their marriage that he had all along been leadng a secret life as an adult film performer named Johnny Thrust . Upset, she nonetheless opted to remain in the relationship (they are apparently together still) but, curious as to the nature of his work eventually insisted on accompanying him onto a set, where director Jim Powers convinced her to let him shoot a sex scene between her and her husband. But what had supposedly been meant to be a one shot deal rapidly mushroomed into a full fledge career once the resulting video began making the rounds of producers’ offices. Worth mentioning among her early efforts are “Kelly The Co-ed” (in which she performs with her husband), “Phoenix Rising” (recently remade with Carmen Luvana) and “Country Comfort”.
In 1999-2000 she took a 15 month hiatus. Returning to porn she rapidly reclaimed her status as one of the industry’s most in demand and dependable stars. Some of her best work to date can be seen in “Double Vision”, “Asia Is In Too Deep”, “Virgin Whore”, “Club Sin”, “Jade Lo”, “Bordello Blues”, “Ambition”, “No Man’s Land 28”, and “No Man’s Land 30” (the last being notable for her hilarious turn opposite the equally hysterical Kaylynn as two elderly, bickering lesbians grumpily recalling the good old days).
Oddly, given that she has consistently refused to perform anal on screen (ATM excepted), she has also stared in no fewer than eight of JM Productions' notoriously anal-centric “Violation” videos, possibly as a favour to her one time mentor Powers, who directed most of them.
Although always personally popular within the industry, she has made it a point of distancing herself when not actually in front of the cameras. She retired for a second time in 2004 and has given no indication of being in any great hurry to return. |
